The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institutes Program in Genomic Applications is now accepting requests from potential host sites for 2-Days Traveling Tutorials. Interested groups should email : Dr. Dario Boffelli or Dr. John Macauley. Applications will be reviewed and prioritized by the PGA directors. The 5 NHLBI-funded PGAs are now offering traveling workshops hosted by interested institutions. The workshop is a 2-day activity aiming to bridge the gap between the bench biomedical scientist and the computational and experimental tools required to use modern genomic resources through integration of the expertise of the PGAs. The first day covers Genome Sequence Analysis, including genome browsers, comparative genomics and sequence polymorphism, and the second day Quantitative Trait Analysis in humans as well as model organisms. Both activities include hands-on computer sessions where participants will be able to put the content of the lectures into practice and test the tools on their favorite genes. A detailed program can be found below. Requirements for hosting traveling tutorials: PGA instructors will provide their own travel expenses. Institutions and groups interested in hosting a workshop must meet the following requirements:
Attendees must carry their own wireless-ready laptop to participate in the hands-on sessions. Interested groups should address all concerns listed above in a letter of application submitted to Dr. Dario Boffelli or Dr. John Macauley. Applications will be reviewed and prioritized by the PGA directors.
